“Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council wholeheartedly support this campaign to promote work opportunities for young people.”
Paul Healy, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council
The Young People’s Employment Programme is the collective name for a centrally coordinated, organisation-wide scheme to bring young people aged 16-24 into Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council workforce or to provide them with work experience opportunities and give them exposure to the Council as a potential employer. Young people will be offered a choice of schemes within the programme:

• Graduate Traineeships
• Under Graduate Placements
• Work Placements and Work Trials
• Schools Work Experience (from age 14)
The implementation of the Young People’s Employment Programme within Redcar and Cleveland will contribute to:
As the largest single employer and a provider of a diverse range of services in the Borough, the Council is well-positioned to provide employment opportunities within its workforce to the young people resident in Redcar and Cleveland.
It is even more well-placed to lead by example on such a programme given that it acts as lead organisation in key multi-agency partnerships such as the Children’s Trust and the Redcar and Cleveland Partnership, whose members could equally positively impact on the Every Child Matters outcomes of ‘make a positive contribution’ and ‘enjoy and achieve’ by providing learning, development and employment opportunities for young people of the Borough.
